Democracy How the Government Works

American Flag The Flag is the symbol that represent freedom to our country. This symbol is used to celebrate several holidays such as Veterans Day and Flag Day. The flag is also flown at half mast by order of the president when some one passes or a great tragedy has happen.

American Flag As previously mentioned you can see what an important symbol the flag is to our society as other flags are important to other countries and societies.

George Washington This portrait of our first president is also a symbol of the fight for freedom-The American Revolution. Symbols stir emotions in the viewer and mean something to the country as a whole.

Banners Banners are another political symbol that are used during holidays and political campaigns.

Fireworks Fireworks are used to celebrate the 4 th of July. What would their significance be to this holiday?
