Problem Will Miracle-Gro make the plants grow twice as fast and twice as tall and develop twice as fast?

Research We researched Miracle-Gro’s claim that their fertilizer helps plants develop and grow twice as fast and twice as tall.

Hypothesis If we put Miracle-Gro in the experimental plants and regular fertilizer in the controlled plants, then the experimental plants will develop leaves, flowers, and buds and grow taller faster.

Procedure We put 3 pellets of Miracle-Gro in the experimental plants, and 3 pellets of regular fertilizer in the controlled plants Then, we took observations of the plants as they grew. Lastly, we harvested and counted the seeds which our plants produced.

Experiment First, we filled the plant pods with soil and fertilizer. Then we took careful observations of the plants as they developed. Lastly, we collected the seeds our plants reproduced.

Data We collected data and results and published them in these graphs.

Bar Graph This graph shows that the experimental plants had 20 leaves, which is 25 less than the controlled plants.

Line Graph

Conclusion We thought that if we put the same number of Miracle Gro pellets in the experimental group as regular fertilizer pellets in the control group, then the experimental plants would develop features larger and faster. We found out that the control plants grew better than the experimental. Our data showed that the experimental had a total of 32 less leaves, 14 less flowers, 19 less pods, 14 less seeds, and grew an average of less than the control plants. We think that because David’s plant number 3 was accidentally bumped in an observation, it affected the plant for the better. His plant developed many more seeds, leaves, flowers, and pods. It also soared to an amazing height. In the future, we would like to test other brands to see if they perform better or worse than Miracle Gro.
