WAVE INTERACTIONS PAGE 47 OF INB

EQ: How do waves change when they interact with their environment?

Absorption: Transfer of energy by a wave to the medium it is traveling in. -Sound proofing -Tinted windows -White and black shirt

Transmission: the passage of light through an object Plastic, glass, paper.

Reflection: Bouncing of a wave off a surface. Colors, Mirror, Sound Waves Law of reflection: the angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence.

Refraction: The change in direction caused by the wave changing speed due to a change in medium. The greater the change in speed the greater the change in direction Diffraction: change in direction as a wave moves by the edge, around, or through an object.
