“Finish Well” Hebrews 12:1-3 June 6, 2010

I. Throw off everything that hinders We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses. We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses. –They bear witness to the power of God’s faithfulness. –They are inspiring examples to us. We are to run the race marked for us. We are to run the race marked for us. –It is a long-distance race. –We are to run the race with endurance.

II. Fix our eyes on Jesus. He is the author and finisher of our faith. He is the author and finisher of our faith. –Our faith has its beginning in Him. –He is the goal and objective of the Christian life. He provided us with an example by enduring the cross. He provided us with an example by enduring the cross. –He approached the cross in light of the joy set before Him.

III. Consider Him who endured opposition. He suffered more than any of His followers. He suffered more than any of His followers. –He was opposed by many. –His crucifixion was extreme. He is our example so we don’t grow weary. He is our example so we don’t grow weary. –Don’t grow weary along the way. –Don’t give up.

Conclusion “Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” -- Isaiah 40:30-31
