 The Parthenon was a temple made for Athena.  The style of architecture used was the Doric type, but also contained some Ionic style.  Larger and more decorated than regular Doric architecture and contained curving columns and base.

Where it was Built  The Parthenon was built on the Acropolis, the hill rising at the center of Athens.  The Acropolis was originally for the old kings of Athens.  Eventually the Acropolis became known for the worshiping of the goddess Athena.

 Iktinos and Kallikrates were the 2 architects for the Parthenon.  Other ancient sources say that Karpion was another architect.  Iktinos also was the architect of the Temple of Apollo at Bassae.  No other information is known about Kallikrates. Temple of Apollo

 It has been said that the Pythagorean ideas of ratios were used in the construction of The Parthenon.  The ratio of 2:3 and its square 4:9 were fundamental for the Parthenon.

 The Parthenon does still exist today, but since it was so old, there has been some wear and tear in the Parthenon.  Renovations have been made to the Parthenon, but the renovations took a long time.

 In my opinion, the Parthenon was a great piece of Architecture that I think was ahead of its time and for it to look so great after only 9 days of construction is amazing.

 The Temple of Olympian Zeus is another architectural wonder that is located in Athens.
