NLP Logical Levels Robert Dilts

Logical Levels Robert Dilts offers an invaluable description of the different levels we operate at He calls them neurological levels ~ these consist of Where & when ~ Environment What ~ Behaviour How ~ Capability Why ~ Beliefs & Values Who ~ Identity

Environment Our surroundings Who we are with Our family Resources Home environment Work environment

Behaviour This includes individual and organisational behaviours This level is about single actions taken by anyone of us or by an organisation Examples are individuals making decisions or interviewing; Organisations might restructure or develop an advertising campaign

Capability Capability implies skills Without the right skills and individual would not interview very well An organisation may attempt restructuring but fail due to the lack of capability You all have capabilities in all aspects of your lives

Beliefs and Values This is the level of what we believe to be true and important in our lives Guiding principles All our decisions are made based on our beliefs and values These form the basis of who we are ~ our identity

Identity Identity is your sense of self, your core beliefs and values Who you are and your mission in life Organisations and companies develop identities These may be based on the beliefs and values of the founders e.g. Richard Branson and Virgin

Identity This is who we are as ~ Individuals Professionals Children Parents Friends citizens

Having an Awareness Helps to recognise at which level the person is operating at You can learn a lot by just listening not only to what people say but how they say it. ‘I can’t do that here ~ IDENTITIY I can’t do that here ~ BELIEF I can’t do that here ~ CAPABILITY I can’t do that here ~ BEHAVIOUR I can’t do that here ~ ENVIRONMENT
