 Discussions between NSF (Harriet Taylor and Joe Urban) and ACM Education Board in 2007, culminating in a joint meeting in December 2007 ◦ Early focus on enrollment crisis and RAGS report ◦ Original intent to have the meeting in Summer 2008  Formal funding application to NSF in Summer 2008  Strong pushback related to RAGS in the December 2008 ACM Education Council meeting  Reorientation of the summit focus (with NSF’s approval) in early 2009

 A one-day face-to-face meeting of the Planning Committee in March 2009  Clarified summit goals ◦ A consensus view of the challenges facing Computing Education ◦ A shared set of strategies for addressing these challenges ◦ Plans for coordinated effort for implementing these strategies
