 Prokaryotic cells have circular DNA  Eukaryotic cells have linear DNA DNA - HEREDITARY MATERIAL

 Chromosomes – a structure in a cell’s nucleus that contains hereditary material. WHAT ARE CHROMOSOMES?

CELL FACT MOST CELLS CANNOT SURVIVE ON THEIR OWN… HOWEVER… SOME CAN!

 Definition: the production of two IDENTICAL cells  1 diploid cell = 2 diploid cells  These are the cells your body is made out of. MITOSIS

 These cells have complete DNA DIPLOID CELLS

 Definition: the production of sex cells  1 diploid cell creates 4 haploid cells  Haploid cells are your reproductive cells  Sperm and Egg MEIOSIS

 These cells have ½ of the DNA HAPLOID CELLS
