 He became the king after his older brother Auther died.  He then married his brother’s widowed wife, Katherine.  He and Katherine had many children together but only one survived,Mary.

Why he left the church  Henry left the catholic church because he wanted to get a divorce from Katherine.  He Became the head of the Church in England.  He killed Monks and Nuns and shutdown the Monastery's

 King Henry Viii convinced people to become Protestants too, So now, the Churches are much more simpler, Priests have less privileges, and people are allowed to get divorces.  He also wanted the worship to be in English so people would participate and understand.

Interesting Fact  Henry left the catholic religion because he wanted a divorce, and because of that he had 6 wives  1 died during childbirth, 2 were beheaded, 2 were divorced and he left the last 1 widowed
