Fault Line Awareness on Selected Barangays in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija

RATIONALE The Philippines as located along the Pacific ring of fire is an area where an earthquakes and volcanic eruptions takes place. Fault line is a break or fracture in the ground that occurs when the earth’s tectonic plates move or shift.. In Nueva Ecija there are three major fault lines converging at the north eastern section of San Jose City. These are Barangays Tayabo, Villa Marina and Pinili. It is therefore a necessity for us to know and understand the possible risks it may cause us. Where the budget funds for this study will get from the Local Government Unit and Non- Government Unit. Indeed, this study will benefit the community of Nueva Ecija nearby the fault lines.

General Objectives This study will seek to answer the possible geologic hazard that the community of Nueva Ecija may experience

Specific Objectives These study aims the following specific objectives: a. Determine the precautionary measures before, during and after fault movement. b. To inform the community about the effects of fault line movement c. Awareness on the presence of fault in the area

Target Respondents The respondents are the residents of the three barangasys of San Jose City in Nueva Ecija, specifically barangay Tayabo, Villa Marina and Pinili.

Research Instrument The researchers will use the following methods A. questionnaire B. interview

Phases of Data Gathering The researchers will do the following a. Locale Familiarization b. Mapping c. Interview ( awareness Coping Strategies of residence within the area )

Budgetary Requirements Sources of Funds Budget Allowance A. Community Officials LGU P 10, 000 NGO P 5,000 Total P15,000

Sample Questions Are you familiar with fault line? Are you aware that your community is situated in fault line? What are the programs undertaken by the LGU with regards to information dissemination about fault line? Are there preparations within the family when fault line moves? Give some suggestions for the preparations in the fault line movement.
