Historically, many eligible providers did not attest until after the close of the fiscal (hospitals) or calendar (professionals) year First-time meaningful use attestations by the quarter the attestation was submitted 3

9 out of 10 Stage 2 hospitals are electronically exchanging information with public health agencies Based on CMS Medicare Incentive Program data through September, n=258 The three types of public health exchange that are core for Stage 2 are immunization registry, electronic laboratory results, and syndromic surveillance reporting. 9
