Presentation transcript:

Definition: The spinning of the Earth on its axis, causing night and day. Extra Fact: One of these equals about 24 hours

Definition: The imaginary line drawn from the north pole of the earth to the south pole Extra Fact: Can be represented by a toothpick through a chewed piece of bubble gum

Definition: The motion of the Earth around the Sun. Extra Fact: One of these equals about days…..this is why we have leap year every 4 years

Definition: When the Earth is directly above the equator, the length of day and night is nearly equal all over the world. Extra Fact: These occur during the spring and fall season Spring Equinox is March 21 and Autumn Equinox is September 21.

Definition: When the Sun reaches its greatest distance north or south of the equator. Marks the longest/shortest days of the year. Extra Fact: These occur during the sinter and summer season. The Summer Solstice is June 21 and the Winter Solstice is December 21. In the northern hemisphere June 21 is the longest day of the year and December 21 is the shortest. It is opposite in southern hemisphere.
