Major Academic Plan (MAP) Why study Biology Education? Science literacy is critical in today’s world and the Department of Biology strives to prepare future teachers to meet this goal. Students may choose one of a number of pathways to earn endorsement in biology at Eastern Washington University. Students may complete a BAE in Biology degree. The BAE program in biology prepares the pre-service teacher to earn endorsement to teach biology from 5-12 grades in the state of Washington. They may also complete a BS in Biology first, and then a general science endorsement. Some students with a BS in Biology enter graduate teaching programs, such as the certification and master’s program at EWU Program Director Prof. Heather McKean 258 Science Building Cheney, WA Department Chair Dr. Margaret A.
