Place Location is the position that something occupies on Earth Location can be described using place names, situation, and site

Place Names The easiest way to describe a place on earth is by referring to its place name –Toponym- the name given to a place on Earth

Situation Situation- the location of a place relative to other places –Ex. “It’s down past the courthouse, beside the large elm tree.” Helps us to understand the importance of something

Site Site- the physical character of a place –Include: climate, water sources, topography, soil, vegetation, latitude, and elevation The combination of these features gives each place a distinctive character –Humans have the ability to modify the characteristics of a site.
