Sir Robert Falcon Scott By David, Edward and Alexandra

Sir Robert Falcon Scott is known for many reasons like: going to the South Pole on an expedition with Ernest Shackleton; going to the South Pole with 15 other crew members and many other interesting reasons. He had a hut at Cape Evans and they called it “ 1 ton depot”.

They set of on November 1910 on the boat called “Terranova”. The Norwegians beat then by five whole weeks. They had 15 other crew members, 22 dogs that they had to eat after a while and 10 ponies that they had to eat as well

They use skis to walk on the snow. And they have ropes to pull the sledges. Robin said to split up so 5 men to walk on but the other guys to stay. They had a monstrous nightmare. They had 4 months walking more than 400 miles and they had to walk a glacier 400 miles!!!

Suddenly, Edward Evens saw the Norwegian flag and thought that they had lost the battle. Now they were heartbroken and now had to travel back 900 miles!!!

Scott's was in the tent and Oat said “I’m going for a walk I may be some time’’. He kept walking till his death. Sir Robert Falcon Scott was 43 when he died in the tent 11 miles from his base ( the hut).

They were not that strong any more, they were week and frost bitten with there toes nearly falling off. They were now 11 miles and Sir Robert was dying and they never made it back.
