Group Project Three

In the early 1900’s many people believed the messiah would soon return Begun in Shiraz, Persia(Iran )

“a young merchant-- the Báb--announced that He was the Bearer of a long- promised Divine Revelation destined to transform the spiritual life of the human race” (Bahá'í International Community, 2008) The Shrine of the Báb, Mount Carmel, Haifa, Israel.

The Báb,  Made proclamation May 23, 1944  Was executed July 9, 1850 Bahá'u'lláh,  Credited as the founder of the Bahá’í religion.  Died in an Isrealli prison Abdu'l-Bahá,  Born Abbas Effendi  Eldest son of Bahá'u'lláh  Shared prison with his father, released finally in The Guardianship  Shoghi Effendi Rabbani, grandson of Abdu'l-Bahá  Only guardian of the Bahá’í faith.

THE BÁB, BAHÁ'U'LLÁH, Room of the Báb's home in Shiraz, Iran, where He declared His mission, May The home was destroyed in 1979 by Iranian Revolutionary Guardsmen. The government later burned the site. A view of the Shrine of Bahá'u'lláh near Acre, Israel.

ABDU'L-BAHÁ, THE GUARDIANSHIP Monument over Shoghi Effendi's grave in London. Portrait of `Abdu'l-Bahá

A group of Bahá'ís from different countries at the Second Bahá'í World Congress, New York, November, million members 189 countries 2,100 ethnic groups Youngest of the world’s religions

The central belief “humanity is one single race and that the day has come for its unification in one global society”

Men and Women are equal. All races are equal. All discrimination is destructive. Marriage is between one man and one woman, but do not criticize homosexuals. They call for tolerance and understanding. That there is a “spiritual core” of one God and that all religions are different in their “secondary aspects”, such as practices, interpretations, and social teachings.

“Cleanliness is next to Godliness”; believe all students should be clean and teachers should assist those who are not.  Unclean students become a distraction They feel that students should aim high and been well behaved, not joking around.  Aiming high allows students to learn more than previous generations.  Behaving in the classroom allows the students to focus on what is important.

They feel that education is the vital to the success of both the students and society.  Society can not grow together if it’s member’s are ignorant They feel that four of the most important aspects of education are reading, writing, science, and philosophy.  Believe all subjects are important, but that these four are the foundations the drive our society forward.

Must be sensitive in discussing most Muslim Nations  These are the areas where Bahá’ís are the most heavily persecuted Need to understand that there are several Holy days a year that are recognized as days that should be spent with the family, not at work or school Need to know that Bahá’ís believe in the messenger’s of all faiths and feel that each messenger was the teacher of that time frame sent by God to unite his people.
