New national curriculum introduced Teaching requirements now in either Key Stage or Year Groups New planning documentation needed Changed goalposts Different expectations for assessment of children’s progress Y2 and Y6 assessed using levels as before Y1, Y3, Y4 and Y5 transfer from levels to new system Assessment levels withdrawn for all year groups No replacement given Schools to implement own system Recent Changes - a short recap

Beginning Below year group expectation The child is beginning to understand and use the learning, knowledge and skills expected of that year group Developing Slightly below year group expectation The child is developing their understanding and use of the learning, knowledge and skills expected of that year group SecureAt year group expectation The child is secure in their understanding and use of the learning, knowledge and skills expected of that year group Embedded Above year group expectation The child has demonstrated that they have a deeper understanding of the learning, knowledge and skills expected of that year group and can use them in a broad range of situations.

Nursery Ongoing school- based assessment against Early Years criteria. Teacher Assessment

Reception We have taken part in a pilot this year. It becomes statutory in October This will set a target for the end of Year 2. Teacher Assessment National Baseline Assessment School-based assessment against Early Years criteria. This is ongoing and completed by end of year.

Year 1 Summer term. Is redone in Year 2 if necessary. Teacher Assessment National Assessment Phonics Screening Check End of year for all subjects using our assessment stages.

Year 2 In May - Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPAG), Reading, and Maths. Teacher Assessment National Assessment SATs Intended to back up teacher assessments End of year for all subjects using our assessment stages. Writing, Reading, Maths and Science also assessed using government’s interim frameworks. Results sent to DfE

Year 3 Teacher Assessment All subjects at the end of a block of learning leading to end of year summative assessments.

Year 4 Teacher Assessment All subjects at the end of a block of learning leading to end of year summative assessments.

Year 5 Teacher Assessment All subjects at the end of a block of learning leading to end of year summative assessments.

Year 6 Teacher Assessment In May - Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPAG), Reading, and Maths (and random sampling of Science). National Assessment SATs All subjects at the end of a block of learning leading to end of year summative assessments. Writing results are sent to DfE
