Math Unit Two Activity 5 Somewhere Between GLEs 2,14

Who are you between? What is your place in line? What is your place at your table? What is your place in your family? Are you the first child, middle, last? What is your place in the cafeteria? What is your place when you play sports?

Digits and more !!!! Starting with the person in your center group with the longest hair write a four-digit number student number two write a second four-digit number that does not following the first four-digit number, student number three write a number that is between the first and second four digit number Student number four write a number that comes before the largest of the four digit numbers

Are you equal ? Order the numbers least to greatest. Then put them in an inequality. Example:4,206 __ 4,260. The answer should be <. Example 5,232 ≠ 5,231 or 5,232 >5,231

Link your thinking with a story chain! Once you have talked about your numbers in an order and inequalities then create a story using the numbers you worked with in your group. Once the story is written type it in Microsoft word or write your story on a flipchart.

Story Chain Example: I have 2,453 buttons. My number of buttons is greater than ( next student’s name goes here). Pass the paper I have 1,987 buttons. I have less than (next student’s name goes here). Pass the paper I have 3,643 buttons. This is unequal to the number of buttons ( student’s name goes here) has. Pass the paper Continue on until all four members have had a turn.
