Introduction Introduction There are so many people among us that have Autism! In March, 2014 the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued their ADDM autism prevalence report. Which stated that the prevalence of autism had risen to 1 in every 68 births in the United States which means that we should really look for Them and try to help them. But a lot of us just don’t know how to approach them and help them. And some of us don’t even know that they have Autism. Autism is also known as Autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Autism is a disability that messes with a person’s mind. People with autism have trouble concentrating, being social, and not spacing out into their own world. How does Autism affect a person? People with Autism don’t have trouble breathing or walking like other people with disabilities might have. A person with Autism just has a little bit of a mix up in their brain. People with Autism tend to kind of be in their own world and not really know what is going on around them. Also, They have trouble with being social and communicating with other people. They have trouble making eye contact and holding on to conversations. People with Autism usually don’t learn how speak till a late age but they still have trouble learning more the basics. A person with Autism tends to make a lot of faces and wander around. Some people find it extremely rude but doctors think that it helps a person with Autism think while they wander around. And the faces are just a way that people with Autism use to try to express themselves. But it doesn’t always come out they way they want it to which is why people think that they are rude.

What are some challenges a person with Autism may need to overcome? Some of the many challenges a person with Autism may need to overcome are: Learning how to communicate and learning basic language and of course how to express them selves. Being social. Because it people with Autism have a hard time showing interest and staying put in one place. Also because people with Autism think in a different way they need to learn how to sometimes think like everybody else so that they could have less trouble with their studies and stuff like that.

How can we help people who have Autism? I read an Article written by Dr. Fuentes. It is called: Autism Spectrum Disorders: Ten Tips to Support Me! In the article there seems to be 1 big point. This is it: You should always respect a person with Autism they are humans to. They prefer to be considered ordinary and appreciate if you act like they are just anybody else. They respect and appreciate the help that teachers give them but they prefer that their disability should not be mentioned in a negative way. And that except help teachers shouldn’t give them any special benefits. They like being with other people and helping whenever they can! They appreciate if you do not separate them from their class/ group. And like it if you let them participate in everything and do what ever anybody else does!
