TABS – Student Questionnaire How to set yourself apart…

The Questionnaire Allows You.. To talk about your current interests To showcase your strengths To showcase your personality To state your aspirations and hopes

Summer Activities Sample 2 I play basketball during the summer and take care of my nephew sometimes. I did go to summer camp for 2 weeks. I learned a lot and it was fun sometimes. I was in North Carolina to visit family. The food was good.

Summer Activities Sample 1 During the summer I do a variety of activities ranging from academic to athletic camps. Last summer, I attended Explorations at the Lawrenceville School. Some of my classes included Forensics, Geometry for the SSAT and Early American Poetry. The classes were challenging but also very interesting. In Forensics, we learned how to duplicate small samples of DNA. This is my second year attending Explorations and the poetry course has been the most fun. I enjoyed learning about early poets such as Dickinson and Thoreau and their impact on current authors. Swimming with the Newark Sharks has also been an integral part of my summer. We practice at 6 pm twice a week and have meets on Saturday mornings. I specialize in freestyle and butterfly for short distances. Our team has a good relay team and we have placed first numerous times. I have been a Shark since 5 th grade and I was chosen as my teammates as a captain of this year’s junior team.

Boarding School Question Typical answer: I want to go to boarding school because it is going to prepare me for college. I also want to learn more responsibility and a boarding school would do that. Another way to answer the question: The boarding school experience would present me with a new challenge in my young life. A boarding school would require me to get out of the comfort zone that has been created at home. I would have to make new friends and trust new people in my life to help me with my academics and my personal life. Being able to adapt to a new environment would help me be better prepared for college and other opportunities in the future. Having my teachers live on campus would be great. I find I learn better when I speak with teachers outside of class. Another thing that draws me to boarding schools are the activities during the week and on the weekends. Being able to explore a new city and its surroundings is exciting. Having the ability to visit museums, landmarks and other attractions with new friends would enhance my high school experience.

Answer should: Make you stand out from the crowd Be detailed and offer the reader a window into your life Paint a picture of who you are as a person and a scholar Make the reader want to ask you questions and learn more about you Be thoughtful and honest
