Drupal Service: Infrastructure Update 2 Marek Salwerowicz Sergio Fernandez ENTICE Meeting

New hardware - LB and workers: 8 servers (2 quads): - 2x Intel Xeon 2.6GHz CPU (32 logical cores) - 64 GB RAM - 2x 10 Gbit network interface Scientific Linux 6 Agile compliant 3

New hardware - storage server NetAPP FAS TB storage space 2 logical nodes uplinked to 2 10-Gbit switches 4

New hardware - Drupal performance 175 req/s - memcache disabled 1000 req/s - memcache enabled 5500 req/s - with Boost module enabled 5

Migration SafeHost -> Computer Centre alpha- and beta-testers sites migrated according to the announced schedule 100 % sites availability in internal CERN network "read-only mode" for ~5-10 minutes no issues reported 6

.cern domain First approach External proxy server configured in front of Drupal Infrastructure [how about proxy outage / low performance?] Only one site (home) configured [what about other (eg. expertiments', press, jobs ? ) ] redirect from old sitename to new (through proxy) [ what if proxy is down ? ] Solution delivered No proxy server configured Internal Redirects (no proxy) Flexible aliases configuration (every Drupal site can have several ". cern" aliases ) launched on 20th of October: home.cern ; ; limitation: SSL certificate re-issuing (official sites / purposes only ) 7

Current Statistics We are hosting more than 1000 sites ! 400 official 570 test / development 34 personal sites average load: hits/day (April-October 2015) 8

Top "5" sites (April-October 2015) 9 home: hits/month jobs: hits/month cms: hits/month press: hits/month timeline: hits/month rest: below hits/month

Peaks in 2015: April Fool's day: hits 5th of April LHC Run 2 start: hits 3rd of June First collisions at 13 TeV : hits 23rd of September - UFO, black hole; Google Maps pointing to CERN ;-) : hits 10

Centrally managed modules - new candidates: JQuery Update sites Superfish sites UUID (?) sites Feeds SQL - request from Users 11

Incident on 14th October 2015: Drupal official sites down Database infrastructure suddenly down recovery time: 25 minutes More reliable solution under development by IT/DB SSB Entry: OTG
