Presentation transcript:

 Areas affected by the California Water Project spread from Northern California to Southern Califronia.  750,000 acres of irrigated farmland.

 The total amount of water supply available in any year uses varies depending on precipitation levels.  In addition, there are many fresh water lakes in this region that include the Salton Sea, Lake Tahoe, and Lake Shasta. All of which are man made.

 The main purpose for the California Water Project is to store and distribute water to major water suppliers in all of California.  The project delivers water to two thirds of California residents it also improves water quality, controls floods provide recreation, and enhance fish and wildlife.

 The problems with this project is it is very inconsistent.  One summer they might make millions of gallons of clean water and the next they might make only thousands.  Also, this project has cost the state of California 600 million dollars per year.

 Many of the water delivered to the major water suppliers in California repay all of the costs taken to fund the clean water.  There has also been acts to make the California Water Project more environmentally friendly and less harmful to the land that the dams are placed on.
