Holy Spirit, Breath of Life Sanctuary Covenant Church March 4, 2012

The Holy Spirit and the Birth of Jesus “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.” (Luke 1:34-35) This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 1:18)

The Holy Spirit and Our Birth Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. (Genesis 2:7) Paul said to the philosophers in Athens, God wants people to “seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’” (Acts 17:27)

The Holy Spirit breathes within all people!

If the Holy Spirit breathes within all people, how should we treat people who aren’t like us?

If the Holy Spirit breathes within all people, how does a person come to know Jesus?

If the Holy Spirit breathes within us, how do we go about being close to God?

“Holy Spirit, you are the breath of life. Closer to God, One Minute at a Time “Holy Spirit, you are the breath of life. I take this breath with you.”

5-Minute Reflection What is a point that stands out to you above others? What do you hear God saying in your heart? How will you respond? Other questions: what might God be saying to you about: The way you see and treat people who aren’t like you? Coming alongside someone who doesn’t know Jesus? Drawing close to God in this moment?
