What is How do we make sure the jobs we do will match our skills abilities and aspirations? Careers Lab will help us explore and find our way through the world of work, with Business Ambassadors coming to school each year.

Welcome to our Business Ambassador. Please can you tell us about your job? Who do you work for and what do they do? How long have you worked there? Is this your first job? What’s the best thing about your job? Hardest thing? Any other questions from the class?

Challenge A to Z of jobs

What do these words have in common? Skills and qualities that employers look for…. But which is which?

A skill is something you do or learn. A quality is something that you are. Now you have heard about our visitor’s job, which skills and qualities do you think they need for their job? Complete Spot the Difference worksheet.

Top Dog What does being successful mean? What can we learn from other successful people? Does our Business Ambassador have someone they admire? What other role models do the class admire?

In your groups create a job advert for one of the jobs you have heard about today. You can use the internet, careers websites or real employers websites to carry out research into the job. You can talk to the Business Ambassadors or look at the website for the Business Ambassador who talked to your class. Websites:

Steps to Success The Presentations

And finally For the Class What would you tell someone at home about today? For our Business ambassador; What will you tell them back at work about today?
