Suggestions  Make your collection as neat and attractive as possible.  A photo album or three ring binder may be used to hold your collection.  Pick leaves of “common” trees.  Make your collection as neat and attractive as possible.  A photo album or three ring binder may be used to hold your collection.  Pick leaves of “common” trees.

Grading This project is worth 150 points. Grades will be determined as follows:  60 points for the correct identification of common names.  (6 points per leaf)  60 points for the correct leaf information.  2 points for the scientific name of each leaf  2 points for the leaf type of each leaf  2 points for the leaf arrangement of each leaf  60 points for the correct identification of common names.  (6 points per leaf)  60 points for the correct leaf information.  2 points for the scientific name of each leaf  2 points for the leaf type of each leaf  2 points for the leaf arrangement of each leaf

Grading  20 points for the general appearance of your collection.  Whole leaves  Green leaves  No holes in leaves  No tears in leaves  10 points for including the grading sheets as the first two pages in your collection.  20 points for the general appearance of your collection.  Whole leaves  Green leaves  No holes in leaves  No tears in leaves  10 points for including the grading sheets as the first two pages in your collection.

Alternate Leaves  The leaves are attached to the branch one to a side, alternating from one side to the other.

Opposite Leaves  Leaves are attached to opposite sides of the branch at the same place along the branch.

Simple Leaves  One leaf blade per stem.  Remember that there must be a bud at the base of the stem for it to be a leaf.  One leaf blade per stem.  Remember that there must be a bud at the base of the stem for it to be a leaf.
