Littering Many people are littering and don’t realize how bad it is for the environment. By Megan Navarro

Littering is Gross If you haven’t littered, that is a good thing. It came to my attention that people like to litter and this litter is growing and it’s just absurd.

Why do people litter? Littering , the big question is why do we do it? I can answer that, well some people don’t care and it might be a natural habit for people. When people litter that means that they don’t care about the earth. Have you ever been called a litterbug if you have then stop because that means you have littered more then once or twice or more times.

Worst Types of Littering You know what I hate, I hate when you see trash in the water or ocean because boats carry trash and that trash can fall out of the boat, or people still don’t care about the earth .also litter can dangerous for animals because it can harm and painfully kill them and there species. And when people throw it in the ocean or river it causes pollution and makes water undrinkable. And how about those sweepers they just push thing around all over the place, and it just messes everything and people walk on the street and it’s just rude for the people who walk on the street. If littering is not stopped, more money will be wasted, more things will be damaged and the innocent people lives could be affected.

What You Might When You See Litter You know what people like to throw all over the floor? Food, pizza, boxes, bottles and more are examples. Anything can be litter. You also see things like parts to a car, tires, bumpers, parts of kid’s toys and gum. People step all over these things everyday like those black spots on the ground which are actually gum.

Where Do People Mostly Litter Road-way litter: it is mostly tobacco products like cigarette buds and ashes. These are littered on a highway or roadway from cars caused by the people. Transition points: transition points are the entrances to building schools, stores and other places. Some items must be discarded before entering. Recreational areas: examples are parks, beaches and open areas. This is where people go for any type of activities that creates lots of opportunities for littering. 

Preventing litter Everyone has a role of preventing litter from happening, changing a common behavior like littering starts with you. Each person must accept responsibility for their own actions by picking up their own litter. Why is litter bad Litter is harmful to people, animals, the economy and the environment. However, it is considered as disrespecting the community and the environment itself. Littering can also cause a fire which is bad for you and your community. One of the biggest fires that are caused by litter is fires on the subway tracks. Have you ever thought about what your community would look like without litter? If so it might take a while to find out. One person throwing something on the ground may not be. However, when that trash finds other trash it begins to build up and make up bigger and more trash
