Nebula in the galaxies By: Natalie & Sierra

What is a Nebula? A cloud of gas and dust in outer space, visible in the night sky either as an indistinct bright patch or as a dark silhouette against other luminous matter.

Ghostly Reflections in the Pleiades This is one of the brightest stars in the Pleiades star cluster. It is a cold gas laced with dust. The distance is 450 light years away.

The Boomerang Nebula Nasa discovered it in early The nebula is 5,000 light-years from earth. There is patterns and ripples in the nebula that are very close to the central star and are not visible from the ground.

Twisters in the Lagoon Nebula These are one half a light year long interstellar twisters. They are laying in the heart of the Lagoon nebula which is 5,000 light-years away.

The Glowing Eye This is a planetary nebula. This picture of the Glowing Eye Nebula was taken for its tenth anniversary. It glows in the constellation Aquila. The nebula is a cloud of gas ejected several thousand years ago from the hot star visible in its center.

Veil Nebula This image shows a portion of the Veil Nebula(the shattered remains of a supernova). The rope like filaments of gas made of energy releases debris and creates shock fronts.

The Butterfly Nebula The star inside cannot be seen through this donut shaped ring of dust.

Labeled Nebula The veil is a long line of gases and dust that is released from the nebula while the star is dying.

Fun facts about Nebulas 1. An emission nebula can collapse in on itself after millions of years and form a star. 2. the brightest nebula that we can see in space is the orion nebula. 3. some nebula have parts of or other nebulas inside of them. 4. the first planetary nebula ever to be discovered was the dumbell nebula. 5. the pillars of creation(large pillars that form many new stars) is a very famous picture that nasa took of the eagle nebula 6. the coldest natural place in the known universe is the boomerang nebula. 7. planetary nebulae are made of mainly carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, neon, and similar weight elements (Also small amounts of helium and metals). 8. planetary nebula are also known as universe recyclers. 9. people sometimes refer to nebulas as galaxies. 10. it was not known that there were nebula in galaxies other than our own, until they found the spiral galaxy.

Cool pictures!
