1 Partner presentation COGAIN camp 05 September 2007 Prof Alastair Gale, Dr Fangmin Shi Applied Vision Research Centre Loughborough University, UK

2 Visual tasks and activities (e.g. security situations) Medical imaging and interpretation Medication errors Healthcare ergonomics Vehicles and driving Disabled & old people We conduct applied research and consultancy into real-life issues associated with vision, cognition, psychology and ergonomics. Major Fields of Research

3 COGAIN-related project Aim: to offer a new gaze-based environmental control interface between the user and the devices in 3D space State-of-the-art: - an intuitive human-environment interface - direct eye gaze sense/control of a device - fully avoiding the Midas touch problem by introducing a simple external input Attention Responsive Technology (ART) Funded by:

4 Interests in further collaboration Integration of the ART system into existing eye tracking applications or E-wheelchair system Interface design with special consideration of severely disabled individuals in the use of environmental controls Pervasive computing / wearable systems Smart home technology Usability testing Or any area falling into our major fields of research
