Growing-up Godly Christ-like Character

Theme Verse Ephesians 4:11-13 NLT GrowingupGrowingup Godly 11He is the one who gave these gifts to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ, 13 until we come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God's Son that we will be mature and full grown in the Lord, measuring up to the full stature of Christ.

Theme Verse Ephesians 4:14-16 NLT GrowingupGrowingup Godly 14Then we will no longer be like children, forever changing our minds about what we believe because someone has told us something different or because someone has cleverly lied to us and made the lie sound like the truth. 15Instead, we will hold to the truth in love, becoming more and more in every way like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. 16Under his direction, the whole body is fitted together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

Christ-like Character 2 Peter 1:3-11 GrowingupGrowingup Godly 3As we know Jesus better, his divine power gives us everything we need for living a godly life. He has called us to receive his own glory and goodness! 4And by that same mighty power, he has given us all of his rich and wonderful promises. He has promised that you will escape the decadence all around you caused by evil desires and that you will share in his divine nature.

Christ-like Character 2 Peter 1:3-11 GrowingupGrowingup Godly 5So make every effort to apply the benefits of these promises to your life. Then your faith will produce a life of moral excellence. A life of moral excellence leads to knowing God better. 6Knowing God leads to self-control. Self-control leads to patient endurance, and patient endurance leads to godliness. 7Godliness leads to love for other Christians, and finally you will grow to have genuine love for everyone. 8The more you grow like this,

Christ-like Character 2 Peter 1:3-11 GrowingupGrowingup Godly the more you will become productive and useful in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9But those who fail to develop these virtues are blind or, at least, very shortsighted. They have already forgotten that God has cleansed them from their old life of sin. 10So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Doing this, you will never stumble or fall away.

Christ-like Character 2 Peter 1:3-11 GrowingupGrowingup Godly 11And God will open wide the gates of heaven for you to enter into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Christ-like Character 2 Peter 1:3-11 GrowingupGrowingup Godly Christ-like character is made possible through God’s power Christ-like character is developed through a joint venture between you and the Holy Spirit

Christ-like Character Your Part in the Process Philippians 2:12-13 GrowingupGrowingup Godly 12Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. while giving thanks through him to God the Father.

Christ-like Character Your Part in the Process Colossians 3:12-17 GrowingupGrowingup Godly 12Since God chose you to be the holy people whom he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. 13You must make allowance for each other's faults and forgive the person who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. 14And the most important piece of clothing you must wear is love. Love is what binds us all together in perfect harmony.

Christ-like Character Your Part in the Process Colossians 3:12-17 GrowingupGrowingup Godly 15And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are all called to live in peace. And always be thankful. 16Let the words of Christ, in all their richness, live in your hearts and make you wise. Use his words to teach and counsel each other. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. 17And whatever you do or say, let it be as a representative of the Lord Jesus, all the while giving thanks through him to God the Father.

Christ-like Character 2 Peter 1:3-11 GrowingupGrowingup Godly Christ-like character is made possible through God’s power Christ-like character is developed through a joint venture between you and the Holy Spirit Christ-like character will make you productive in God’s kingdom

Christ-like Character Will Make You Productive in God’s Kingdom Colossians 1:10 GrowingupGrowingup Godly 10And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,

Christ-like Character 2 Peter 1:3-11 GrowingupGrowingup Godly Christ-like character is made possible through God’s power Christ-like character is developed through a joint venture between you and the Holy Spirit Christ-like character will make you productive in God’s kingdom Christ-like character is forged through testing and hardship

Christ-like Character Is Forged Through Hardship Romans 5:3-4 GrowingupGrowingup Godly 3We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us—they help us learn to endure. 4And endurance develops strength of character in us, and character strengthens our confident expectation of salvation.
