Management Information Systems Management Information Systems (MIS)- an organized system of processing and reporting information in an organization. Components of an MIS – Gathering Data – Analyzing Data – Storing Data – Reporting results

Operation of the MIS 1.Identify the information needs of the organization. 2.Obtain facts, figures, and other data 3.Process, analyze, and organize data in a useful manner. 4.Distribute information reports to those who make decisions. 5.Update data files as needed

Word Processing Software Word Processing Software- is used to create and revise written documents.

Desktop Publishing Desktop Publishing- the process of writing and designing high quality publications with the use of personal computers. Graphics Software- a computer program that prepares charts, graphs, and other visual elements.

Database Software Data Base- an organized collection of information with the pieces of information related to one another in some way or another. Database Software- processes a database.

Spreadsheet Software Spreadsheet software- a computer program that formats data in columns and rows in order to do calculations. Integrated software- a computer program capable of doing more than one basic function.
