Liquid Soil Stabilizer & Road Compactor BASE2000 D. C. A. GEOTECHNIC. ENGINEERS TOP2000 Liquid Surface Sealer & Dust Control Base Marketing International of Panamá Inc.

BASE2000 Is a liquid stabilizer and soil strengthener (Polymeric) which hardens and seals unpaved roads and is mainly used for road bases, sub bases, landfills and allows the construction of economic second and third class roads. With this product the wearing surface finished with cement or asphalt is lasting considerable longer because of the relatively more stable base. It is representing a saving of up to 75% in the cost of the construction and maintenance.

Characteristics of BASE2000 Less expensive: It is up to 75% less expensive than the conventional method, resulting in a substantial reduction of the construction- and maintenance cost of highway- and road projects. Easy application: No requirement for special clothing, protection equipment or special handling precautions. Environmentally safe: It will not damage equipment or pose any danger to work crews. It does not have a special requirement for transportation, storage or disposition of its containers. BASE2000 IS NON-TOXIC. Versatility: Can be combined with fly-ash, cement and other products to increase the effectiveness under special conditions. It is very adaptable to a wide range of soil compositions.

BASE2000 Benefits Reduction of Plasticity Index : Colloidal materials are bound together and creating larger and denser particle sizes. Reduction of Coefficient of Permeability : Because of increased density from compaction and bonding water passage is impeded. Increased Soil Bearing Capacity : Compaction and bonding create greater strength in soil bearing capacity and resistance, supporting the heaviest of traffic condition.

Additional BASE2000 Benefits Reduction of Construction Cost Reduction of Maintenance Funds available for Re-Programming No need to close project for traffic.

BASE2000 is utilized in construction of : New road bases and/or sub-bases of paved roads and highways. Second and third class roads (Infrastructure) Airport runways Parking lots Landfills BASE2000 is utilized in re-construction of : Worn asphalt roads and parking lots Secondary Roads with/without wearing surface

It is easy to determine the necessary amount of BASE2000 US Computation: Length (ft) x Width (ft) x Depth of Base (inch) x (Application factor) = BASE2000 (gallons) Example: Length (m) x Width (m) x Depth of Base (cm) x (Application Factor) = BASE2000 (gallons) Metric Computation: Length: 1.00 km Width: 5.5 m Depth: 20 cm Amount = (1000 m) x (5.5 m) x (20 cm) x ( ) BASE2000 = 165 gallons

Required Equipment and Personal for the Application Motor Grader Vibratory Compactor Water Truck Site Supervisory Engineer Operator for Motor Grader Operator forVibratory Compactor Operator for Water Truck Crew for cleaning the project site

Method of Application The Motor Grader uses the scarifier for the rip of 20 cm (8 inches) or the necessary depth, depending on the type of project to be constructed. The solution of water and BASE2000 is prepared depending on the existing soil moisture content. The proportion of the solution has to be between 1:40 and 1:90, depending on soil moisture content.

Method of Application The soil needs a minimum of 15% fines passing a 200 sieve. The Grader is ripping to a depth of 10 cm (4 inches). The Water Truck is following the Grader and begins spraying the base material to be treated. The 2nd rip of 10cm and the blading into a windrow. Water truck is spraying again, followed by blading Grader.

Method of Application Removing organic and large material to achieve better compaction and final appearance of road. The grader finishes with the grading and shaping. The Vibratory Compactor continues compacting until the material is very tight.. BASE2000 keeps (bunches) the larger, heavier particles of the treated soil evenly distributed in the lower base, preventing it from rising later to the surface.

Reasons for Stabilization with Polymers To optimize resources available To mitigate environmental impact (Polymers are non-toxic) To reduce cost of construction and maintenance.

THE STABILIZATION WITH POLYMERIC CHEMICAL AGENTS The chemical stabilization process consists of the incorporation of the chemical additive into a soil with a certain amount of fines present. It is within those same fines of the treated soil where the chemical and physical change (Ionization) is taking place. The density is increasing because the mechanical compaction is causing dehydration and polymerization of the fines and consequently a reduction in the plasticity of the treated material.

THE TREATMENT OF SOILS WITH POLYMERS Polymers are substances consisting of giant molecules formed from smaller molecules of the same substance and of the same proportion, but in such numbers that some molecules are multiples of others. During a reaction or series of reactions numerous molecules of this type (Monomers) are BONDED to form giant molecules, which are POLYMERS.

Criteria for stabilization with BASE2000 Improves the supporting capacity of soil with fines which can pass the sieve No 200. Augmentation of density because of IONIZATION. Lowers the PLASTICITY INDEX. Accelerates DESINTEGRATION. Accelerates DRYING PROCESS. Increases unconfined COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH. GEOTECTONIC CHARACTERISTICS are improving.

TOP2000 Is a liquid emulsified asphalt (Cationic) to be used in areas having dust problems because of heavy traffic. This product is ideal for a surface sealant for roads treated with BASE2000, because of the simple method of application and high capacity of impermeabilization. Each drum of 55 US gallons sufficiently covers an area of 600 m 2.

TOP2000 Required Equipment and Personel for the Application Vehicle to transport the Manual Emulsion Sprayer orGravity Feed Tanker Site Supervisory Engineer Vehicle Operator Suction Pump Operator General Crew Helpers

Method of Application for TOP2000 Inspection of the part of the road section which was treated before with BASE2000 The surface may have only very little dust or still better, no dust at all. Now TOP2000 can be applied with manual emulsion sprayer or gravity feed tanker. After the application it needs to dry approximately not more than 60 minutes. If so desired gravel or sand can now be applied on top.
