Sick Leave Clearance Procedure in Occupational Medicine Unit YU Kwai Chun Nursing Officer Labour Department

Occupational Medicine Unit 1. OMU (K) 2. OMU (H) 3. OMU (S) The injured worker attended the designated OMU as specified in the Sick Leave Clearance Form sent to him by ECD

Sick Leave Clearance Interview to obtain relevant information about injury to vet through the sick leave certificates whether satisfied with the return of the full functions of the injured part

Outcome Fit for sick leave clearance Defer for further attendance in OMU Arrange Medical Assessment Board (OAB)

Fit for Sick Leave Clearance Resume duty for about 2 weeks after expire of sick leave Simple injuries recovered with no resultant disability No complaint

Defer for further interview Necessary documents are missing e.g. sick leave certificate Further treatment is required, e.g. PT, OT

Arrangement of OAB Obvious/apparent resultant disability Complaint of symptoms Refer for Medical Assessment by Specialist Doctor e.g. Orth, Surg

OAB cannot be arranged when: The employer disputes the case Doubtful E.C. Case is processing Client seen by other unit(s) which is/are not yet fit for MAB Client turns up without fit for MB chit, pending follow up in near future Clients request to defer OAB arrangement even with fit for MB, e.g. to have OAB after the removal of implant
