Abram’s Faith By faith By faith  Hebrews 11:8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

Abram’s Faith useless reasonings  Abram is proposed to us in the Scriptures as a pattern of faith, patience, and loving obedience. When he received the call of God, he spent no time in useless reasonings about the call itself, his family circumstances, the difficulties in the way. He was called, and he departed, and this is all we hear on the subject.

Our Faith  Implicit faith in the promise of God, and prompt obedience to his commands, become us, not only as HIS creatures, but as sinners called to separate from evil workers and wicked ways, and travel, by that faith which works by love, in the way that leads to the paradise of God.

Our Faith  Hebrews 11:10 for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God. he lost sight of earth, that he might keep heaven in view  He knew that earth could afford no permanent residence for an immortal mind, and he looked for that heavenly building of which God is the architect and owner; in a word, he lost sight of earth, that he might keep heaven in view.

What do we lose/gain?  Luke 9:23 Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. desires to save his life  24 "For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.  25 "For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? lessons

What does it mean to be ‘ashamed of Christ?’  Luke 9:26 "For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angels.  Are we guilty? How? lessons

Song  All of Self and None of Thee  Some of All Self and Some of Thee  Less of Self and More of Thee  None of self and all of Thee lessons
