Presentation transcript:

The Responsibility Of Every Christian

 Christianity is ordered according to a Divine pattern.  We serve God under a new covenant in Christ.  The church belongs to Christ and should never have been denominated.  Jesus is the foundation and cornerstone of the church.  The church has a prescribed leadership.  Worship of the Lord is to be in spirit and truth.

 The Lord’s supper is an examination, proclamation and commemoration.  Singing to the Lord rather than playing instruments is the NT pattern.  We are to give to the Lord as prospered.  We are each personally gifted by the Lord to serve Him.  We are to be people of great moral integrity and righteousness.

 Why do evangelism?  Who does evangelism?  Who should we evangelize?  How do we reach out to others with the gospel?

 Matthew 28: Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you [b]always, even to the end of the age.

 2 Peter 3:9 -- The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

 …who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

 1 Corinthians 9: For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for I am under compulsion; for woe is me if I do not preach the gospel. For if I do this voluntarily, I have a reward; but if against my will, I have a stewardship entrusted to me.

 1 Peter 4:17 -- For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

 “…when the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven…dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus….”

 Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade men….

 Acts 5:42 – “…And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they kept right on teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.”

 Acts 8:4 – “Therefore, those who had been scattered went about preaching the word….”  DIASPORA

 Romans 10:15 -- How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!”

 The whole world  Matt. 5:13-16  Salt of the EARTH  Light of the WORLD

 John 4:35 -- Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest.

 Matthew 9:37-38 – “Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.’”

 People who know, respect and trust me.  Children, spouses, relatives, co-workers, neighbors, friends  Cold contacts: newcomers, visitors, door knocking, jail ministry, mass media outreach….

 Begin with prayer  Be strong and courageous (Deuteronomy 31)  Don’t be timid, hesitant or tentative in your approach  Focus on soul needs – they are lost!  One-on-one is best
