Purpose Work together creating opportunities that a country would not have alone. Creates: – More powerful worldwide as 1 large unit rather than several small countries = More: Overall Currency (money) Land Resources People = Better economy for everyone

What is the EU ACTUALY DOING to build relationships between member countries? Improving trade (NO barriers like tariffs and embargos; created common currency (Euro)) Better education opportunities Better and more diverse industries Better and more diverse farming Everyone within can vote at ANY EU ellection Everyone within can work, move, and migrate through out the member countries without passports

EU Characteristics About 27 member countries fully in Euro is their common money (BUT, 12 countries use their own currency instead!) Motto is “United in Diversity” EU documents are in many different languages, but English is the primary one because most people know English

EU RESPONSE QUESTIONS: 1)How can both diversity and united be possible in the EU? 2)What are the good (pros) and bad (cons) points that you see about having the EU? 3)Why do YOU think that 12 countries might use their own forms of currency? What is good and bad about this for the EU as a whole?
