History in Slovenian School elementary school - from Year 6 to Year 9 ( years) –Year lesson per week –Year 7, 8 and 9 – 2 lessons per week secondary school: –grammar school - 2 lessons/week –vocational and technical school – each school different or within the subject Social sciences

Year 6 topics: –Remains of the past –The man thinks, creates and builds –Beginnings of science, art and religion, –Lifestyle through history, –Cultural heritage (3 of 4)

Year 7 chronological: –Prehistory, Ancient Times: Egypt, Greek and Roman, Early and High Middle Ages (15th century). –optional is about 25 percent within the chapters

Year 8 chronological: –from Christopher Columbus to the World War I –Emphasis on Slovenian history –optional is about 25 percent within the chapter

Year 9 topics: –Political history –Economic history –Slovenian history in 20 th and 21 th century –technology development –wars –changes in living habits
