Types of Colleges Post Leaving Cert Colleges Institutes of Technology (CIT & LIT) Universities (UCC & U.L) PLC colleges include Colaiste Stiofain Naofa, College of Commerce & St. Johns College. Don’t need points Most apply online. Various enrolment dates – St. Johns in January Rounds of interviews from March Places given on first come first serve basis. Minimum Entry requirements for CIT: For most Level 7 courses is Leaving certificate grade D3 at Ordinary or Higher Level in 5 subjects including Maths or English and Irish A Pass In Foundation Level Maths does not meet minimum requirements However a grade B2 or higher is recognised as a subject for entry to Art, Music and Childcare. Now students do not need a third European language for any of the Science, Engineering or Food science Programmes but do for all other courses. Minimum requirements for individual courses can be found in college prospectuses, on qualifax website and by googling “bgscareers minimum requirements”
