Science Fair Project Type your project title here Type your category here (For the experimental design labs, the category is Physical Science) Type your name

Statement of the Problem Type your question here. (This is the question that your experiment answers.)

Project Overview Type a brief overview or summary of your project here.

Research  Summarize your research here in three to five bullet points:  1 st bullet point  2 nd bullet point  3 rd bullet point  4 th bullet point  5 th bullet point Deleted this section, if you are doing the experimental design labs

Variables  Independent variable: The one variable that you purposely change and test.  Dependent variable: The measure of change observed because of the independent variable. It is important to decide how you are going to measure the change. (Operational Definition)  Constant variables: These are the things that are kept the same throughout your experiments.  Control group: This is the group used to compare with the independent variable. State why the CG makes logical sense for the experiment by giving a reason for the selection. 

Hypothesis  Based on the research you have done, you will be writing an answer or solution – your best educated guess – to your question. Make sure you write down your hypothesis before you begin your experiment.  Hypothesis/Prediction includes both independent and dependent variables and predicts a trend. A rationale is given for the hypothesis. 

Materials  Type a detailed list of the items you needed to complete your experiments.  Be specific about the amounts used.  Metric System is used.

Procedure  List all of the steps used in completing your experiment.  Remember to number your steps.  Add diagrams in your steps.

Photos  Add photos of your experiments.

Data/Observations (Analyzes)  It is easier to understand the data if it is put into a table(s) and graph(s).  Create a graph(s) in Microsoft Excel and import it here.  Make sure all data is clearly labeled (TAILS).  List the data for both Qualitative Observations and Quantitative.

Conclusion Type a brief summary here of what you discovered based on the results of your experiments. You need to indicate whether or not the data supports the hypothesis and explain why or why not.

Possible Experimental Errors  Type a brief summary here of what the possible experimental errors you discovered based on the results of your experiments. You need to indicate possible reasons for errors and effects the errors had on data.

Applications and Recommendations  Type a brief summary here of what you suggest for improvements based on the results of your experiments. Make suggestions for future experiments and discuss practical application(s) of experiment for everyday life.

Works Cited  Deleted this section, if you are doing the experimental design labs  Be sure to include print and electronic sources and put them in alphabetical order.
