Micronized Copper Technology Goodfellow Terra® is pressure treated with MicroPro® Micronized Copper Azole Preservative registered by Health Canada, for use for treated wood products for above ground, in ground contact and in fresh water end use applications.

Micronized Copper Technology Unlike ACQ or CA, MicroPro does not use organic solvents to dissolve copper for pressure treating The copper is micronized into sub-micron sized particles small enough to be pressure treated into wood Micro copper particles are physically deposited in the wood cells in solid form. Micronizing Mill Large Copper Particles Sub-Micron Copper Particles

Excellent Decay and Termite Performance Several research papers have concluded that micronized copper systems: provide excellent protection against fungal decay and termite attack perform as well or better than ACQ or CA treated wood products.

Excellent Performance on Canadian Species Over 150,000 board feet of Canadian wood was pressure treated with MicroPro and evaluated before the product was released in 2012 MicroPro treated wood is in the CSA standards and can meet Canadian building codes.

Goodfellow Terra® Pressure Treated Wood Micronized iron oxide pigments in the treating solution create a rich, warm earthtone colour The colour is not a dye system Durability and performance of pressure treated wood with colour added.

Advantages for the Contractor Effective decay and termite performance In CSA standards for building code compliance Approved for use above ground, in ground contact and in fresh water Improved corrosion resistance Approved for aluminum contact above ground.

Advantages for the Consumer Finished look for an outdoor living space to complement today’s deck furniture and furnishings.

Preferred in Focus Groups Brown MicroPro treated wood was top rated by focus groups of DIY and Pro users of treated wood in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Minneapolis The aesthetic appeal of the colour and the finished look were the most compelling features.

Conclusions Both DIY and Contractor groups significantly preferred MicroPro with a brown colourant over traditional treated wood, such as ACQ Contractors stated that it would be an easier sell than traditional pressure treated, and DIY consumers thought their neighbors would appreciate this choice for a shared fence Both groups would go to another retailer to purchase MicroPro with a brown colourant.

Advantages for the Environment MicroPro is the first and only wood treatment process to be certified as an Environmentally Preferable Product based on Life-Cycle Assessment by Scientific Certification Systems: Reduced energy use Largely eliminated copper releases Reduced air emissions Reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

Advantages for the Environment Wood products treated with MicroPro technology are eligible for more green building points than any other treated wood.

Advantages for the Environment MicroPro preservative meets strict testing criteria for volatile organic compounds (VOCs), thus helping to reduce indoor air pollution, minimize chemical exposure and create healthier indoor environments Goodfellow Terra Pressure Treated Wood products are suitable for use in schools and office construction, and to create products such as children’s play sets.

Advantages for the Environment Goodfellow Terra Pressure Treated Wood is available with FSC certification. FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is the only forest certification system that protects rare and endangered forests and wildlife.

Application Information: Cut Ends When treated wood is cut or drilled, untreated wood may be exposed Apply two coats of copper naphthenate to exposed wood in Ground Contact Brush on two coats of Goodfellow Terra Sealer or an end-cut preservative before exposed wood is installed Above Ground Always follow manufacturer’s recommendations.

Low VOC End Sealer Goodfellow Terra Sealer for Cuts in Pressure Treated Wood is water-based low VOC It is colour matched to Goodfellow Terra for cuts, holes and blemishes that expose untreated wood above ground.

Application Information: Fasteners Goodfellow Terra Pressure Treated Wood exhibits corrosion rates on metal products similar to untreated wood Fasteners are rated for the application or environment, and not the treated wood.

Application Information: Aluminum Goodfellow Terra Pressure Treated Wood is approved for direct contact with aluminum in above-ground applications Aluminum products include siding, roofing, gutters, door and window trim, flashing, nails, fasteners and other hardware connectors.

Application Information: Finishing Any exposed wood should be protected with a high quality water repellent to help reduce warping, checking and splitting Apply water repellent as soon as the wood is dry to the touch Follow manufacturer’s recommendation.

Important Information: Handling Gloves, goggles and dust mask when cutting or sanding any wood Use only wood that is visibly clean and free of surface residue Thoroughly wash skin exposed to preservative and/or pigment Wash work clothes separately from household laundry.

Important Information: Disposal Cut-offs, broken boards, sawdust and construction debris are not hazardous waste Do not burn treated wood Do not use treated wood as mulch Treated wood may be disposed of in landfills or burned in commercial or industrial incinerators or boilers in accordance with federal, provincial and local regulations.

Not all brown treated wood is Goodfellow Terra® Registered for above ground, ground contact, fresh water immersion In CSA standards for building code compliance Improved corrosion resistance Approved for aluminum contact above ground Environmental certifications.
