Here we go…

We were all once little kids… One common thing we all have is that we were once little children. The use of song is a powerful way for children to learn. Today we are going to break into groups and learn and perform children songs from around the world.

Okki Tokki Unga – Eskimo song Chorus Okki-tokki-unga, Hey, Missa day, Missa doh, Missa day. (Repeat) Verses 1-2 Hexa cola misha woni, Hexa cola misha woni. The actions mark the beat and tell the story of an Inuit boy who goes fishing: Chorus: paddle to one side then the other.

The Cuckoo (South America: Peru) In the faraway forest, We hear the cuckoo sing, And hidden in the foliage, The owl was answering... Cuckoo is my name, Cuckoo is my name, Cuckoo, cuckoo, cuckoo This song can be sung by two voices: the first group sing the first verse and when they start singing the second verse, the second group starts to sing the song.

Ducklings, Ducklings (Africa: South Africa) Ducklings, ducklings, all in a row One, two, three, four, see how they go Left, right, left, right, look how tame Quack, quack, quack, down Puddleduck Lane.

Michael Finnigan (Europe: Ireland) There was a boy called Michael Finnigan, He grew whiskers on his chin-igan. The wind came out and blew them in again. Poor old Michael Finnigan, begin again. There was an old man named Michael Finnigan,  Who went off fishing with a pinnigan.  He caught a fish, but it fell in again.  Poor old Michael Finnigan.  There was an old man named Michael Finnigan,  Who caught a cold and couldn't get well again.  Then he died, and had to begin again.  Poor old Michael Finnigan.

Mister John (Europe: Poland) Mister John! Mister John! Get up early! Get up early! All the bells are ringing, All the bells are ringing, Bim, bam, boom Bim, bam, boom. This song can be sung by two voices: the first group sing the first verse and when they start singing the second verse, the second group starts to sing the song.

Two Tigers (Asia: China) Two Tigers Two Tigers Running fast Running fast One of them has no eyes One of them has no tail Very strange! Very strange!
