June 29-July 2, Methods for Transporting Metadata Records via OAI OAI conformant: Uses simple DC as the metadata format Metadata uses XML schemas (the OAI/DC one) Namespace identifier verified with OAI Non-OAI conformant: (Most folks do this) Use any metadata format Metadata uses XML schemas (comment out DTD lines or don’t make validation references) No OAI verification; rather register namespace identifier with trading partners (DLESE, NSDL)
