What Aid and Attendance Means Assistance with bathing/showering Assistance with toileting Assistance with feeding (i.e. need help to actually eat their food – not prepare it) Assistance with dressing/undressing Assistance with transferring in/out of bed/chair Assistance with incontinence (lack of bowel control) Assistance with ambulating (walking) Assistance with keeping oneself ordinarily clean and presentable Having an incapacity (mental or physical) that requires assistance/care on a regular basis to protect patient from hazards in their daily environment (i.e. Alzheimer’s, etc.)

Limit on Assets Approximately $80,000 for a couple. Approximately $40,000 for a single Veteran or Surviving Spouse. This is where the greatest need for planning with a professional exists - if have assets in excess of the above.

Assets VA Does Not Count Exempt Assets: Home (must live in it) Vehicles Personal property

Need Care In Place To Get Care Problem: If you can’t afford to pay for care services in order to bring down your monthly income to zero and also prove you NEED care you will not qualify for the VA Aid & Attendance Benefit. You need to already have care in place to get care! Solution: We can help you find a finance solution to pay for your care during the application approval process. Once approved, the VA will pay you for the cost of care you incurred during the waiting period.

Applying for the VA Benefit Problem: You don’t know how to fill out the required 15 forms to apply for the VA A&A Benefit and are concerned that if you incorrectly complete them you could be denied the benefit. Solution: Our team of Accredited VA Benefits Agents will work with you and your family to complete the application forms for you and submit them to the VA on your behalf at NO CHARGE TO YOU.

Keeping the VA Benefit Problem: The VA randomly audits Aid & Attendance Benefit recipients and requires detailed documentation to verify the recipient has stayed compliant with the benefit requirements. Non compliant recipients will be back billed by the IRS for benefit paid out to them. Solution: Our team of Accredited VA Benefits Agents will work with you and your family to ensure appropriate documentation is kept and adequate communication with the VA occurs to maintain benefit eligibility for many years.

Steps To Get Started! There is certain information that we must have to discuss your situation with you –Date of military service & discharge status of Veteran –Gross monthly income & type and ownership of assets –Medical Condition/Assistance with Activities of Daily Living –Surviving Spouse – marriage license to Veteran Once you have this information call our office and we will schedule a Case Manager to come and visit you in your home to perform a free in-home assessment. Once the assessment is completed we can turn you over to our Accredited VA Benefits Team to get your 10 – 20 hours of free care started - without paying a penny. It’s that simple!
