SPIDERS & RELATIVES Chelicerata: two part body w/ chelicerae (mouth parts) two body parts: cephalothroax & the abdomen two appendages attached near the mouth chelicerae & pedipalps Horseshoe Crabs 5 pair of walking legs, spike-like tail, 60cm in length Arachnids four pair of walking legs on chephalothroax Spiders predators: eat insects or small vertebrates using a variety of methods

ARACHNIDS Spiders inject venom, secret enzymes and suck up the liquefied tissues with its esophagus and stomach. Webs are made of liquid silk high in protein Mites and Ticks parasites: pierce the skin, have teeth and claws cause Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever Scorpions: (usually venom is like a bee sting) carnivores eating mostly insects pedipalps are enlarged into claws abdomen ends with a barbed tail-like structure like to hide in warm dark places
