Grasslands are large areas with hills of grass and wildflowers. Sometimes grasslands are called prairies, savannahs, or steppes.

A biotic factors Rain fall Sunlight soil

PRAIRIE DOGS There are five different species of prairie dogs: black-tailed, white-tailed, Gunnison, Utah, and Mexican prairie dogs. They grow between 30 – 40 centimeters in height. They are tiny creatures, so they can hide easily from predators. They have claws to dig their homes

BLACK RIHNOCEROS An adult rhinoceros grows 140 – 170 cm in height. Usually rhinoceros weighs up to 800 to 1,400 kg. Leafy plants, branches, shoots, thorny wood bushes, and fruit.

CHEETAH Cheetahs can run between 112 to 120 km/h. They can accelerate from 0 to 103 km/h in about 3 seconds. This is also one of their adaptations with this power they can protect themselves. Cheetah feed on antoplope and buffalo

ELEPHANT A elephant weighs about 12,000 kg The hard skin helps it prevent arrows and knifes. leaves, bamboo, bark, roots, twigs, and small amounts of fruits, seeds, and flowers Elephants protect themselves with their trunks.

ZEBRAS Zebras eat dry grass. Zebras have special teeth to chew tough grass. Thin fur keeps them cool Their great stamina helps them outpace predators

Here are some grass and wildflowers the grow in grassland. Purple needlegrass Sunflower Wild oats Indigos Goldenrods

RYEGRASS ryegrass can extend growing into the warm seasons. Ryegrass can get killed or damaged in cold winter seasons.

SUNFLOWERS Sunflowers come in all sorts of colors. They need a lot of sun that is why they call it a sunflower, they need water, oxygen, rich soil. thorns around stem and leaves for protection.

WILD OATS Wild oats are sometimes cut for hay, and young plants provide forage for grazing animals. The oat that grows in the plant is edible by humans and other animals.

Human activities Humans destroy grassland by driving vehicles on them, which destroys the plants and killes animals. Humans set fire to the ground which destroys plants and kills innocent animals.
