Making it easier for students to show their best work

One team for College Readiness

Connect to College Check-in and Focus Readiness Baseline

11

A radically democratic reboot of the test-prep industry A real paradigm shift. I think they are really trying to change this from test preparation to an educational opportunity. Designed to help level the playing field for all students interested in taking the SAT and preparing for college-level courses. A first-generation student or low- income student might be better now because it’s actually through hard work. They engaged with the Khan Academy system, worked on the skills the high school maybe wasn’t preparing adequately for or didn’t have a chance to learn

Khan Academy Partnership 13

“How can I take advantage of the best opportunities?”

+ Additional funds for student scholarships + AP Potential: Inviting students to take advantage of the opportunities they’ve earned + Exam and college admission fee waivers

Access Through Partnerships Added $180 in scholarship opportunities

Propelling Students Into AP Opportunities AjNfl2U- Ka/Kayla%20Brathwaite/2%20Minute/Kayla_7_FinalMix_030415_4 80.mp4?dl=0 AjNfl2U- Ka/Kayla%20Brathwaite/2%20Minute/Kayla_7_FinalMix_030415_4 80.mp4?dl=

Delivering Opportunity Through Fee Waivers 18

“How do I make sure what I do in high school prepares me for a career?”

+ Planning tools that engage students in thinking about their future + Delivering skills that matter for jobs of the future, including coding, which opens doors for all. + Achieving career readiness comes from productive preparation, not from taking another test

“Powering Up: The campaign to teach computer science to a digital nation” 22 From the Washington Post: + “Seattle-based Code.org, founded by two tech entrepreneurs, and the College Board, the New York-based non-profit that administers the SAT and Advanced Placement tests, are offering to help 35 of the country’s largest school districts teach new computer science classes.” PSAT 8/9 potential Use Code.org Coding career success

AP + Project Lead the Way 23 The Challenge By 2020, 92% of STEM jobs will require postsecondary education and training; only 42.6% of SAT takers in the class of 2014 met the SAT College and Career Readiness Benchmark AP + PLTW Program Preparing more students for degrees and careers in STEM + Connect AP and PLTW courses to create college and career pathways in Engineering, Biomedical Science, and Computer Science + Career-focused opportunities sponsored by key industry partners + New credential to recognize and reward students

The College Board Readiness & Success System + Easier for students to navigate a path through high school, college and career + Extraordinary, exclusive partnerships that deliver unprecedented benefits to students, educators, and states/districts Beyond tests. More opportunities.
