 Modern times are defined as the present.  S&T’s increased influence and power over time is inevitable, and unstoppable.

 S&T certainly has its pros and cons.  Advancement of S&T must undergo ethics and control, or S&T could result in the ultimate destruction of:  Humanity  Earth and Nature  Itself
