EEN CAN 2010: Identifying Factors for Success and Key Challenges October 1, 2010

ActivityAudienceOutput Direct Outcome (next month) Intermediate Outcome (EEN 2011) Working session to identify : a)Best practice for successful environmental evaluations; and b)Common challenges that affect the conduct and or quality of environmental evaluations Federal employees Provincial employees NGOs Consultants Foundations Academia Categorized list of core success factors and commonly experienced challenges. Improved understanding of the key factors for producing successful evaluations as well as the common challenges experienced by EEs. Enhanced knowledge of best practices and techniques for resolving common challenges in EE. FINAL OUTCOME: Best practices are documented and disseminated, and applied across the EE community, leading to improved evaluation processes and products.

To do: 1. Write down 2 of each: a) Key factors to success b) common challenges affecting: - environmental evaluators - organizations responsible for evaluation - quality of evaluation products 2. Divide into two groups – challenges/successes 3. Categorize success and challenges by theme 4. Report back to the group
