MEDICARE’s PERFORMANCE: Before Medicare (1960s) the US & Canada spent about 7% of each country’s GDP in health care. In Canada 10.2% of GDP All Canadians insured Important health indicators, such as infant mortality, are better in Canada than the U.S. U.S. 16.4% of GDP 33 million uninsured in America (uninsured rate dropped by 2.9 percentage points in 2014 after Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act introduced)
