Lesson By: Rahaf Al Saadi

This is the problem, teachers don’t trust us! That’s because one or two students have been using there phones for the wrong purpose (Not learning). So teachers think all students are going to do the same. That impression of a few students has changed teacher’s opinions about using mobile tech during class time.

The only solution to this problem, of trust. Is that we actually use our mobile phones the right way. Not for “Facebook” or “ Texting friends”, but for learning. That way we can prove that we will use our mobiles during class to improve our learning. And that will change teacher’s opinions about mobiles.

That way we can build trust, solve the problems of mobile phones during class time, and also change the impressions teachers have of mobile phones. If we use mobiles for researching, and looking up things for the topic we are talking about in a lesson. That can also be an alternative to the heavy laptops.

The majority of students use their phones to chat with friends, or go on to Facebook and so on… These applications are addictive. Instead of aiming for learning they aim to comment on a picture, or answer a message, or even go to a wash room call a friend just to chat.

We use them that way, because either some people don’t like a particular lesson, so they look for something else to do. Also, since in senior school we “listen” more than we “do”, so they get bored of listening and start looking for something to let time fly quick.

The best solution, is that we pay attention and live with! Because we’ve got a long way to go. And they say if you listen and pay attention to a lesson you don’t like, eventually you will like it. For teachers, mobiles are a solution to this problem, because there are applications that can help track what students are doing during the lesson!
