PATIENCE VS. RESTLESSNESS ACCEPTING A DIFFICULT SITUATION WITHOUT GIVING A DEADLINE TO REMOVE IT.

The true measure of man: Is the height of his ideals, the breadth of his sympathy, the depth of his convictions, and the length of his patience. Patience is not doing nothing, (that’s lazy) but doing everything you can do until you can do something else.

“Be patient, none of us am perfect” Bumper sticker “Be patient, none of us am perfect”

Example You never realized how patient you could be until the person that you are arguing with is your boss. A lack of energy is sometimes mistaken for patience. The problem with people today is that they want to get to the promise land without going through the wilderness.

Many people have left the dock before the ship came in. People run on many tides, and you must wait to catch your wave. Many waves will crash before you get on to ride and you will be glad that you never got on. Wait for your wave, don’t grab someone else’s.

PATIENCE PRACTICE Relationships: (intimate) #1 patience builder Family: (children) #2 patience builder Job: #3 patience builder Public: #4 patience builder Friends: #5 patience builder

PATIENCE IS A CHARACTER QUALITY THAT IS MOST NEEDED WHEN IT IS EXHAUSTED. THE TROUBLE WITH PATIENCE IS THE MORE A FELLOW HAS, THE MORE FOLKS WANT TO USE IT.

In the world that we live in today, patience has become an art of concealing your impatience. Meaning most people are very impatient, but hide the frustration under the idea that it more than likely won’t get better.

Nothing worthwhile ever happens in a hurry. Important lessons are always learned from being patient. The best relationships are developed through patience through the trials. The best jobs are achieved through waiting till the time is right, pushing forward in spite of circumstances.

Example Think like a farmer, learn that we can’t sow and reap all in the same day. Plant the seed in the soil today and in due time the flower will bloom.

YOU GET THE CHICKEN BY HATCHING THE EGG NOT SMASHING IT. RELAX YOU GET THE CHICKEN BY HATCHING THE EGG NOT SMASHING IT.

5 keys to building patience 1. Keep your cool: Keep flexible when you encounter problems and difficulties. Keep your goal in mind and when you hit a road block, wait for the road to open. Getting mad never does any good but will add stress to your life and you will die younger. Keep your vision and keep positive.

#2 Use the right process: It is very easy to get frustrated, especially when you seem like you are wasting your time. Establish sound procedures and avoid cutting corners and being to cheap.

#3 Go forward while you wait: Find other productive activities to go in a positive direction. This is where other doors will be presented and opened. If other methods can address your concerns, then develop another way to deal with the issue. Be creative and stay busy with the vision and you won’t loose your patience because you are still accomplishing something.

#4 Accept reality: Some things change, and others things do not. Accept the circumstance when it finally is at a point of decision. Look at the situation, accept the reality of it, then go to work again on the vision or situation in a different way.

#5 TRY AGAIN: Do not become discouraged when you seem to be getting nowhere. Re establish that your vision is still worth going after. Your responsibility is to move in the right direction at the right time. The process of waiting while you are still working develops character that is worth having.

THE WRONG THING Act like a baby when things don’t go your way. Get mad at someone because you thought they should have done something different. Spread negative thinking in the workplace because the boss got upset with you. If we are just patient, things will get better. Don’t make it worse in the meanwhile.

LESSON Every time you have to be patient, look for the positive that came out of it and you will see the benefit of this character quality.

Story Have you heard of the Chinese bamboo tree? The Chinese plant the seed, water and fertilize it, but the first year nothing happens. The second year they do the same but nothing happens. The third and forth years they do it all again and yet still nothing happens. And then the fifth year comes and somewhere in the process of the sixth week in the fifth year it grows up to 90 feet tall.

The question is this, did it grow 90 feet in six weeks, or in five years? Obviously the tree grew in five years, but you saw the result of it in the last six weeks.

GROUP John and Rose had a daughter that needed help with her alcohol problem. (she drank and drove) John wanted to force his daughters hand into going into rehab by getting her children from her until she was admitted. Rose wanted to be patient until her daughter wanted to go. What would you do?
